Sunday was more than just Valentine’s Day in the Core Shopping Centre this weekend.
One Thousand balloons each filled with a raffle ticket were dropped onto the mall of The Core on Sunday afternoon with prizes ranging from a free chocolate up to a jackpot of £500 cash! Meals for Creams, Subway and Yoghies were all in there as well as choices of prizes in a jam packed hamper from HMV. With smaller cash prizes and vouchers for many of the other shops in the Core, it certainly wasn’t a dull affair this Valentines.
Assistant Manager Rebecca Bilclough said ‘The Core has attracted some big name retailers and food outlets recently as new tenants, and Sunday is generally a quieter day’s trading – so we targeted the fact it was Valentine’s Day and wanted to help make people’s day even more special without it costing them a penny!’
Over 300 people turned up for the balloon drop, and queued to see what they had won with their tickets. Our £500 prize winner was delighted, she said ‘We only came to town to look at laptops, we might as well go and buy one now!’
This was just one of the first major events following on from last year’s Terror Tour and Student Survival Kit – This Wednesday sees the Jurassic Adventures Tour coming to Leeds with a 14 foot long T-Rex, with lots more to follow later in the year.
